The evolution of blood transfusion services in Bangladesh began on
1950 and Committee was formed in 1952.
Academic
advancement followed with the launch of the Diploma in Blood Services & Transfusion (DBS&T) in 1972.
The Blood Transfusion Society of Bangladesh (BTSB) was officially registered in 1995 and today includes over 200 physicians, technologists, and scientists.
A three-year national action plan for safer blood services was created, initiating structured nationwide screening and training.
BTSB supported the Safe Blood Transfusion Act 2002 and its enforcement in 2004, followed by official rules issued in 2008 — now the cornerstone of transfusion regulation.
BTSB collaborates with DGHS, WHO, ISBT, AABB, AATM and other partners to advance training, screening, voluntary donation and modern transfusion standards.

Our expertise includes immunohematology, clinical transfusion, apheresis, stem cell preparation, PRP, and NAT screening.
