Author Guidelines

The editorial policy of Transfusion Medicine Journal reflects the interests of clinicians, scientists and other professionals working in the field of transfusion medicine. Author wishing to submit a paper are asked to follow the guidelines below:

The Editorial Process

A manuscript will be reviewed for possible publication with the understanding that it is being submitted to the “Bangladesh Journal of Transfusion Medicine (BJTM)” alone at that point in time and has not been published anywhere, simultaneously submitted, or already accepted for publication elsewhere.

On submission, editors review all submitted manuscripts initially for suitability for formal review. Manuscripts with insufficient originality, serious scientific or technical flaws, or lack of a significant message are rejected before proceeding.

Manuscripts that are found suitable for publication in BJTM are sent to two or more expert reviewers. The reviewers should not be affiliated with the same institutions as the contributors. The comments and suggestions (acceptance/rejection/amendments to the manuscript) received from reviewers are conveyed to the corresponding author.

Manuscripts accepted for publication are copyedited for grammar, punctuation, print style, and format. Page proofs are sent to the corresponding author, who is expected to return the corrected proofs within three days. The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision on the acceptance of all manuscripts.

Authorship Criteria

BJTM defines authorship in agreement with the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) guidelines. Authorship credit should be based on substantial contributions to all of the following four criteria:

  1. Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work; AND
  2. Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content; AND
  3. Final approval of the version to be published; AND
  4. Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work.

The order of naming the contributors should be based on the relative contribution towards the study. Once submitted, the order cannot be changed without written consent of all the contributors. Inclusion of persons as authors out of friendship, acknowledgment, or other nonscientific motivation is a breach of research ethics.

Conflicts of Interest

All authors must disclose any and all conflicts of interest they may have with the publication of the manuscript or an institution or product mentioned in the manuscript and/or important to the outcome of the study. This includes associations with commercial entities that provided support for the work or could have an interest in the submitted manuscript.

Authors hold sole responsibility for the views expressed in their texts. The mention of specific companies or manufacturers' products does not imply endorsement by BJTM. Generic names for drugs or products should be used whenever possible.

Ethics

BJTM is committed to the highest ethical standards for the conduct of research. Manuscripts reporting research involving humans must include information about the ethics review committee(s) that approved the study. If a study was deemed exempt from ethics review, authors must provide documentation for such exemption.

BJTM requires registration of clinical trials in a public trials registry as a condition of consideration for publication. The trial registration number must be published at the end of the abstract.

Submission of Manuscript

All manuscripts must be submitted online at [Insert BJTM's manuscript submission portal URL here]. The journal does not charge for submission and processing of manuscripts.

All manuscripts must be accompanied by a cover letter which should include:

-   Possible conflicts of interest.

-   Confirmation that the manuscript has been read and approved by all the authors, and the contribution of each author is listed.

-   A statement that the manuscript has not been published/submitted elsewhere.

Preparation and Types of Manuscripts

Manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with the "Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals" (ICMJE Recommendations).

Manuscripts should be prepared using a word processor, in double-space, single column, using 12-pt. Times New Roman or Arial font.
